The Latest Progress

After 15 years of continuous development, China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City has made remarkable achievements in comprehensive urban development, ecological environment construction, smart city construction, industrial cluster development, improvement of people's livelihood and well-being as well as deepening the cooperation between China and Singapore. Meanwhile, the comprehensive competitiveness and attractiveness of the Eco-City have constantly been enhanced. As the master developer of the Eco-City, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co., Ltd (SSTEC) will continue to deeply engage in the development and construction of the Eco-City. In the next decade, our vision for the Eco-City's urban development is: to continue consolidating the close relationship between China and Singapore; to establish a leading low-carbon smart city in China; to build an iconic city centre; to continuously provide high-quality working and living environment.

As of now, the Eco-City has a permanent resident population of over 160,000 and over 40,000 market entities. In the Eco-City, there are 32 schools and kindergartens with over 43,000 students; four community centres that integrates public welfare and commercial functions and one library, which have been put into use; six commercial complexes including Keppel Seasons City Shopping Mall and Eco-City Wanda Plaza; and a number of restaurants, star-rated and budget hotels and fitness centres. The Eco-City also has built 40 urban parks and a large number of internet-famous scenic spots, such as the National Maritime Museum of China and Fantawild Adventure Theme Park. The Tianjin Fifth Central Hospital Eco-City Branch and Tianjin University Xincheng Hospital have opened for operation, and Tianjin Central Hospital of Gynecology Obstetrics Binhai Branch will also will be put into operaion in Q4 2023. At present, the urban rail transit Binhai Subway Line 2 (formerly Z4 Line) connecting the Eco-City and other areas of Tianjin is under construction. After opening to traffic, it will be connected with the complete intelligent and convenient urban public transportation of the Eco-City to build a more convenient and accessible public transportation system.

By 2023, the built-up area of the Eco-City (China-Singapore Cooperation Area) has reached 13 sqkm. As of now, the Start-Up Area is basically completed and has complete infrastructure, commercial resources and community services. The Central District is planned to be created into an international urban district where more than half of the development has been completed and according to the plan. The city centre located in this district will be built as the core area of the Eco-City for business and leisure activities. The Eco-Island District surrounded by water features a beautiful scenery and the ecological restoration and water treatment experiences for this district has been promoted and applied in many regions across China. As the "connecting channel" between the Start-Up Area and the North District, this district will be created into a "Tourism Island". In the Northeast District, there are a high-end biomedical industrial park and a modern green integrated logistics distribution centre. The North District is equipped with a high-end business park with the builders' apartments and this district will enter the comprehensive development stage in the next 3-5 years.

Through continuous innovation and efforts, the Eco-City has been recognised for its achievements in the field of green and sustainable development.
